Bee’s Wax Candle Making for the Whole Family

Bee’s Wax Candle Making for the Whole Family

Can you craft candles as a family? The answer is absolutely yes!   Producing candles with bee’s wax sheets is one of the most excellent ways to improve kinship among the members of a family.  Before we get to the how, let’s talk about what bee’s wax candles are. These beeswax candles can be seen in church altars and ceremonial dining tables.  Bee’s wax candle making involves rolling the beeswax, liquefying and molding the wax, or transferring liquefied wax in containers.   Bee’s wax can be bought from art stores or beekeepers in lumps or thin sheets.

The difference between these two forms of bee’s wax has something to do with the procedure involved in crafting candles from the natural ingredients.  You will want a double boiler, a heat source and quite a few holders or candle containers for producing candles out of beeswax lumps.  This is the usual way of creating any type of candle.  In this method, you’re going to make use of heat, which means you will need safety goggles, a heat resistant apron and safety mittens.  If you’re going to let your kids help in the crafting of bee’s wax candles, you should go for the alternative technique.

The unconventional technique will involve the use of bee’s wax sheets.  If you are going to roll bee’s wax candles, you do not have to make use of your double boiler.  This means you don’t have to utilize heat for the reason that you won’t be melting wax.  However, you might want to cut the wax yourself before letting your kids handle it.

In some cases, you do not even have to cut the bee’s wax sheets for the reason that some stores offer pre-cut ones.  However, if you want to craft stouter, taller or bulkier candles, it is worthwhile to learn how to slice these bee’s wax sheets into your ideal width and length.  If you’re going to cut the wax, use razor-sharp craft scissors.

You can also use a craft knife or an ordinary paring knife.  The measurement lengthwise of the bee’s wax sheet will be the handcrafted candle’s height.  If you like to create pointed candles, you might want to cut your bee’s wax sheets in triangles.  Also, the wick needs to be primed and installed in the sheets of wax before you let your children roll the candles.

Wick priming involves covering the wick in melted bee’s wax and letting it cool.  Fold the edge of your sheet firmly until the primed wick is entirely covered.

Then … the fun part!

Hand over one sheet of bee’s wax to your family members and let them roll the bee’s wax sheet into a tight cylinder.  The whole procedure is comparable to rolling dough prior to baking.  Little kids may need some help rolling the wax.  The correct way of rolling the wax is to exert a steady but moderate pressure to roll the wax.  The bee’s wax sheets are thin enough to be molded into a tube manually.  Do not worry about adding dye to your rolled bee’s wax candles since some shops color the bee’s wax sheets.  A great way of inviting your children to attempt rolling their own bee’s wax candles is to select pastel colored bee’s wax sheets.
