G Scale Model Railroad Designs (For Small Businesses)
I get what you mean, my wallet’s been feeling a little on the low side these days too. It’s rough out there. REALLY tough! But I came up with a scheme the other day that just might help your small business. It was a recollection from growing up in the big city. In a very huge city. Around Christmas my mom would take me and my siblings out to the big park for a little walk but it was too cold to stay outside for too long so we would end up at a department store. I think it was Macy’s, I’m not sure. There, right in the store would be this huge model locomotive display. You had to wait because there were so many kids but after a time get your turn to press the button that propelled one of the several trains to move around the setup. Man was it a huge layout! Bigger than the apartment we lived in! As a kid you were just lost in the world of imagination while you were in front of that track.
And here’s the thing, even though my mom didn’t have very much money and always came in with the goal of never wasting a cent, by the end of the day it seemed like we without fail ended up buying some little thing, even if it was just a hot dog from one the street venders. So here’s the thought I had:
Use display g scale railroad trains to lure customers in:
Toy retailers have known this for ages and hardware stores have found this a natural fit since customers can buy the accessories and kits for model railroading all right there. But you don’t have to be a toy retailer or hardware store to take advantage of model train displays. If you’re part of a line of stores or by a mass transportation hub this could be perfect for your establishment. It wouldn’t even have to be a store connected with model trains. A bookstore, for example, might just display a few model training books and maybe a couple of histories about the building of historical railroads next to a their train display and maybe even a few train related trinkets on the side. Kids would pull their parents into the business and many parents would have great trouble leaving without buying their kids a little train at least. The model train babysitter would allow the relieved parents to take care of their own goals. The cost of setting up the railroad and the lost space would pay for itself in no time. Really, wherever parents and children are forced to cool their heels would be helped from such an addition. This is sure to create an insurance plan against bad times.
Consider a model train design for your Bed and Breakfast and Restaurant:
You know how you’ve been planning on making your old Victorian into a B & B now that your children have all flown the coop. Well what better way to help create a special personalized experience than to add a g scale model railroad layout to your Bed and Breakfast? You could market your Bed-and-Breakfast as a locomotive Bed-and-Breakfast and you could have a locomotive motif. If you have a swimming pool in the back or a patio where customers eat you could have a train that winds around by the seats and rig it so that the train actually takes out the drinks to people. The experience would be sure to draw people with their kids and you could make a little bit of extra money by selling trinkets. If you already appeal to families to your business this could really be a way individuating between them choosing your business over your nearest competitor. If you are in the American southwest this shouldn’t be hard since most of its past is related to the rise of locomotives.
It’s a hard world out there these days. But that is exactly why it is the best time to look for a business augmenting scheme like this. Whatever you can do to make your business seem individual and to have it stick out from your competitors can help the bottom line. This is only some of the ways you could utilize model trains. Imagine a miniature golf park where a g scale train winds through the entire course, going over ponds and across runways and where the players alter the train’s course by sinking holes…
