How To Age A New Mirror
Are You trying to get your mirror to look aged? Well I will make an attempt to help you. In the past 2 years I have written a lot on decorative mirrorsand extetensive writing has helped a number of home owners all over the world. If you want to be one those people then I suggest you take a few minutes to read through this brief but useful article.
One thing I must mention is that there are a number of ways to convert the glass area of the frame to an aged mirror. For those of you who are not using mirrors that are unframed you also have a choice to convert the frame of the mirror to a tray. {You Can do this even withThis can even be done with} some makeup mirror wall mount or whatever type
Some of the options you can use include gelatin or silver. You can also consider using an aluminum leaf. For a 300 square feet you could fork out something like $90 for most chemical kits but you can just use the latter on glass at a smaller fee than most| however, you can also just use the aluminum leaf because it is cheaper.
Most people have complained about the effectiveness of using this method especially due to the fact that it is not easy to remove the grey paint on the back of most new mirrors.
You can also try to use Antique Mirror Patina, which is an alkaline solution that is water based and makes it look old and tarnished even when its new. To cover a square feet you may have to spend something like $2, which could add up to about $80 for a standard mirror.
These are not the only options you can choose when trying to turn your decorative mirrors or any type to make it look aged. However, what I have shared above can help you start out the process.
